LHC seeks reports from Lahore, Sheikhupura DCs on PTI workers'Breaking

October 23, 2026

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought reports from the deputy commissioners of Lahore and Sheikhupura on petitions challenging the detention of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers. Justice Abhar Gul Khan heard petitions filed by Rao Shahzad and others. During the hearing, lawyer Irfan Kalar said PTI workers, including Rashid and Javed Iqbal, had been detained and were not released even after their detention periods expired.

He said the deputy commissioners of Lahore and Sheikhupura had issued fresh detention orders. The lawyer argued that keeping the workers in detention without stating a reason was unconstitutional. He requested the court to declare the detention orders unlawful and direct the authorities to release the workers. The court sought reports from the deputy commissioners of Lahore and Sheikhupura on the petitions.
