New PIMS Executive Director announces large-scale hospital reformsBreaking

The newly appointed Executive Director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Professor Dr. Tanveer Khaliq, has announced large-scale institutional reforms. PIMS spokesperson Sajid Abbasi stated that decisions have been made to modernize hospital infrastructure and expand educational facilities. Furthermore, the Executive Director has improved logistics protocols to ensure the uninterrupted provision of medicines to patients. The procurement systems for both the inpatient departments and outpatient departments (OPD) have also been upgraded.

Aging electromedical equipment across various departments is being replaced in a phased manner, including in the departments of General Surgery, Medicine, and the Dialysis Unit. PIMS has also initiated specialized master’s degree programs in various surgical fields in affiliation with the university. The institution has launched master’s programs in breast surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, and minimal-access surgery. Formal planning is also underway to establish a dedicated Department of Thoracic Surgery, the spokesperson added. Additionally, a new policy has been implemented to ensure a transparent selection process for house officers.
