Over 7.4m animals sacrificed in Pakistan on Eid al-Adha: ReportBreaking

The number of animals sacrificed during Eid al-Adha in Pakistan increased this year, with around 7.47 million animals slaughtered nationwide. According to data released by the Tanners Association, a total of 74.7 lakh animals were sacrificed across the country this year, compared to about 69.77 lakh animals last year. It stated that the figures include 2.75 million cows and bulls, 4.2 million goats, 500,000 sheep, and 25,000 camels.

According to the data, the estimated prices of hides remained significant this year, with cow and bull hides valued at Rs 2,200 each, goat hides at Rs 600, sheep hides at Rs 100, and camel hides at Rs 2,000. The association said the total value of hides collected this year stood at approximately Rs 8.67 billion. Eid al-Adha is marked annually by Muslims across Pakistan with the ritual sacrifice of animals, followed by distribution of meat among family, friends and the needy.
