Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (FM) Ishaq Dar said on Monday that Pakistan was concerned about the situation in the Middle East.He further said that Israel was committing atrocities against the unarmed, innocent civilians in Gaza. “Pakistan condemns the genocide being carried out by Israel in Gaza.”

Dar said that Pakistan had also strongly condemned Israel’s attacks against Iran, adding that the country later also welcomed the ceasefire reached between the two countries. Accusing India of using water as a weapon, the FM said that the country could not unilaterally hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance. “And if it does, it would amount to an act of war between India and Pakistan,” he added.

He went on to say that the resolution of the Kashmir issue would guarantee peace in South Asia.  Dar called upon the Afghan Taliban to make sure their territory was not used for acts of terror in Pakistan. “We believe that a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan is in our interest,” he said, adding, “We have formed a tripartite group comprising China, Pakistan and Afghanistan. We have also expanded the CPEC to Afghanistan.”
