Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said the Federal government will bear all expenses of 100 MW Solar Power Supply project for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.Addressing a review meeting on 100 Megawatt Solar Power Project for Gilgit Baltistan, he directed the concerned authorities to expedite work on the project and ensure its completion at the earliest. The Prime Minister further directed impartial third-party validation to ensure transparency in all phases of the project.
The relevant authorities briefed the meeting about the federal government's solar project in Gilgit-Baltistan.It was briefed that the government has planned to install eighteen Megawatt solar power project for government buildings in Gilgit-Baltistan. The meeting was briefed that eighteen MW solar power project for government buildings in Gilgit and Diamer Divisions will be completed by December this year, while the solarization of government buildings in Baltistan Division will be completed by October this year.
The meeting was apprised that work on eighty-two Megawatt solarization project for households is underway in Gilgit, Skardu, Chilas and Khaplu. The meeting was attended by Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Power Sardar Owais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam and relevant senior government officials.
