More than 3.962 million driving licences have been issued across Punjab so far this year as part of efforts to improve public service delivery and strengthen enforcement of traffic laws. A police spokesperson said over 4.356 million traffic challans were issued for violations of traffic regulations during the period, while fines exceeding Rs 8.88 billion were imposed on offenders. He said challans were issued to 42,535 smoke-emitting vehicles, while 6,693 vehicles were impounded at police stations for various violations. In addition, fitness certificates of 28 vehicles were confiscated.
