Rain-affected areas examined in ChichawatniBreaking

Acting on special directives from Commissioner, Sahiwal , Director Development and Finance, Shafiq Ahmad Dogar on Tuesday visited several low-lying and flood-prone areas of the city to review drainage arrangements following rainfall.  During the inspection, Dogar visited Karbala Road, Pasha Street, Gol Chakkar, Liaquat Chowk, Jinnah Chowk.

Furniture Bazaar, Saddar Bazaar, Hali Road, Morwala Chowk, Urdu Bazaar, Stadium Road, Church Road, DPO Office Chowk, Farid Town D Block, the General Bus Stand, Pakpattan Chowk and Chak 134 Mor, among other areas.  He directed Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) officials to ensure that rainwater does not accumulate in urban areas, and called for more effective drainage measures to minimize inconvenience for the residents. 

Dogar also stressed that development projects being carried out under the Punjab Development Programme should be completed on a priority basis, urging all the relevant departments to remain active in the field to provide relief to the public.  Reviewing the performance of WASA and other departments, he instructed officials to maintain strict monitoring of low-lying areas and ensure the prompt drainage of standing water.
