The serial numbers of four Indian Rafale fighter jets shot down by Pakistan during the May aerial skirmish have revealed, according to a report by British defense magazine Key Aero. The investigative report detailed that during the 52-minute air engagement between Pakistan and India, the Indian Air Force (IAF) lost four Rafale jets, with their serial numbers identified as BS-001, BS-021, BS-022, and BS-027.
The magazine noted that India failed to provide clear images or documentation of these aircraft. The report further highlighted that Pakistan’s Multi-Domain Operations effectively neutralized the Indian Air Force, which suffered additional losses, including MiG-29, Su-30 aircraft, and Heron drones. On May 10, a JF-17C Block 3 reportedly destroyed India’s S-400 defense system in Udhampur, while Pakistani forces targeted the Indian command-and-control system in Barnala.
In a first-of-its-kind operation, Pakistan combined cyber warfare with conventional aerial tactics, reportedly crippling nearly 96 percent of India’s social networks and digital infrastructure during the conflict. The magazine also referenced an earlier interview in which Indian Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan acknowledged the destruction of Indian aircraft. Prior to this engagement, the Pakistani Air Force had successfully downed an Indian MiG-21 during Operation Swift Retort.
