PPP Senator Sherry Rehman emphasized that India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) is against humanitarian and climate laws. “Whatever they [Indians] are doing, can happen to them too.”She said that Pakistan’s manifesto has been to draw the world’s focus on the Kashmir dispute.“Even [US President] Donald Trump said if it is not resolved then the region will continue to be instable”.
While criticising India’s act of war and the restriction placed on Sikh pilgrims by closing the Kartarpur corridor, Sherry said that “diplomacy must take its place”, and these issues should be resolved together with the help of arbitrators.PPP Senator Sherry Rehman has lauded the Pakistani media for staying “mature” and “responsible” in its coverage of the India-Pakistan conflict. In a press conference, she criticised the Indian media for “running a Bollywood movie that had nothing to do with reality”.
This, she said, increased Pakistan’s credibility. “Across the border, the Indian nation is now realising that they were betrayed.” “This war was imposed on us … and we won it within hours,” Sherry stated, clarifying that her party never galmorised war because civilians suffered the most in such scenarios. She added that India used the Pahalgam attack as a means to go to war. “You cannot equate an uninvestigated act of terror with an act of war … and here the terrorist is India,” the PPP leader stated, adding that Pakistan didn’t let New Delhi cross a “red line”.
