An under custody shooter was killed in firing of accomplices during attempt to free him from police custody here on Sunday. According to details, the police was taking notorious shooter and robber Jamil Ahmed alias Jeela for recovery when his four cohorts attacked police party in jurisdiction of Kahna police station of Lahore. In cross firing, the under custody culprit was critically injured and succumbed to his wounds while being shifted to hospital. The attackers fled the scene after fire exchange with police. The killed shooter was offender in over 72 cases of murder, attempt murder, robberies and other crimes and he had killed a citizen over resistance while looting Rs5 million cash from him in Nasirabad area of Lahore. According to DSP Chaudhry Faisal Sharif, the accused had shot dead two citizens in Rawalpindi Cantt and Hujra Shah Muqeem over resistance during robberies in the years 2019 and 2022 respectively.
