Maulana Fazl Raheem Ashrafi, the Patron-in-Chief of Wafaq-ul-Madaris, assured Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi of his positive role in addressing concerns related to the proposed Madaris Bill (laws for religious schools). According to media reports, the assurance came during a meeting held at Jamia Ashrafia in Lahore on Monday. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Jamia Ashrafia and held an exclusive meeting with Maulana Fazl Raheem. The interior minister inquired after the health of Maulana Fazl Raheem and expressed his best wishes for him. The two leaders engaged in detailed discussions about the proposed Madaris Bill, with Maulana Fazl Raheem emphasising the importance of depoliticising Madaris issues and focusing on constructive resolutions.
Maulana Fazl Raheem categorically stated that the issues surrounding madaris should not be politicised. He assured the interior minister of Wafaq-ul-Madaris’s constructive role in addressing concerns regarding the bill. Additionally, he suggested that Punjab should adopt a framework similar to the federal government’s policy by bringing madaris under the education department's supervision. In response, Minister Mohsin Naqvi thanked Maulana Fazl Raheem for his commitment to playing a positive role regarding the proposed Madaris Bill. The meeting concluded with Maulana Fazl Raheem offering special prayers for national security, development, and prosperity.
