A woman and her three children were injured after their car plunged into a pit at an under-construction project in a residential society in Karachi’s Manghopir area, police said. The accident occurred at night when the vehicle fell from a height into the excavation site. According to police, the woman was driving the car when it plunged into the pit, injuring all four occupants.
Police sources identified the driver as 50-year-old Samia. The injured children include a 17-year-old and a six-year-old. The age of the third child was not immediately available. The car remained in the pit for several hours before it was retrieved with the help of a crane. According to initial information, neither the residents nor the management of the housing society reported the incident to the police or rescue services.
Police reached the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. Initial police findings suggested that speeding may have contributed to the crash. All four injured persons were shifted to a private hospital for medical treatment, police sources said. Authorities are gathering further details about the incident.
In a separate incident on April 3, 2026, a moving car carrying two women fell into a large sinkhole after a section of road collapsed near Cafe Liberty on Karachi’s Tariq Road. The vehicle plunged into several feet of water, prompting nearby residents to rush to the scene and alert the police and rescue teams.
Rescue personnel safely pulled both women from the car, while heavy machinery was later used to retrieve the vehicle. Police cordoned off the affected area and suspended vehicular and pedestrian movement to prevent further danger. No injuries or fatalities were reported in that incident.
