The Lahore High Court (LHC) Thursday dismissed a petition filed by Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Rizwan challenging proceedings initiated against him by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).Chief Justice Aalia Neelum heard the petition, during which Mohammad Rizwan’s counsel, Advocate Umair Qazi, argued that the NCCIA had issued notices to the cricketer without justification.

The lawyer contended that the matter for which the notices were issued did not fall within the NCCIA’s jurisdiction and urged the court to declare the agency’s proceedings unlawful. The court, however, directed Rizwan to submit a response to the show-cause notice and appear before the NCCIA.During the hearing, Mohammad Rizwan’s counsel told the court that a response to the notices had already been submitted. He said the NCCIA rejected the response and subsequently issued fresh notices summoning the cricketer.

The Lahore High Court subsequently dismissed Rizwan’s petition against the NCCIA proceedings.Pakistan cricketers Imamul Haq and Mohammad Rizwan appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in Lahore on September 10 in connection with an investigation into alleged dressing-room leaks during the team’s England tour. Sources said the two players appeared before the agency in response to NCCIA notices. Both players requested additional time to submit their written responses.
