England white-ball head coach Brendon McCullum has praised Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan for his outstanding unbeaten century, which guided Pakistan to a remarkable one-wicket victory and secured their place in the tri-series final. McCullum termed Shadab’s innings as exemplary, praising his skill and ability to lead Pakistan to victory under pressure. He said defeats often bring several issues to light, adding that there were still positives for England to take from the match.
McCullum also referred to Shadab’s reaction to an LBW appeal, which suggested he believed Pakistan had won the match. Shadab reviewed the decision and was given not out. McCullum noted that such incidents were part of the game. He praised England captain Harry Brook, saying he was leading the side well and developing strategies through consultation. Shadab’s unbeaten century proved decisive in a remarkable run-chase. Pakistan added 89 runs for the 10th wicket, setting a record for the highest 10th-wicket partnership in a successful ODI run-chase. With Pakistan struggling at 154 for nine, victory appeared highly unlikely.
However, Shadab guided his side to an extraordinary one-wicket win and a place in the Tri-Series final. Shadab Khan credits Haris Rauf for team's performanceAll-rounder Shadab Khan has credited Haris Rauf for the team's performance, saying the century was valuable to the side and expressing happiness at the contribution. Speaking at a press conference, Shadab said tailenders batting at number 10 often enjoyed hitting sixes, but Rauf showed patience and played his part in the victory. Shadab dedicated his innings to his family. He also said it was unfair to compare him with Australia's Glenn Maxwell on the basis of a single innings.
