July 21, 2025

Fresh from its historic triumph at the Asian U-16 Championship, Pakistan’s junior volleyball team now sets its sights on conquering the world stage but greater resources will be essential to turning that dream into reality. This was emphasized by Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob, who praised the Pakistan Army and government for their continued support.

He stated that with increased investment in young players, Pakistan could achieve even greater success internationally. “Despite limited resources, the PVF is providing maximum facilities to both senior and junior teams,” he said. He highlighted the significant role played by the Army Sports Directorate in organizing training camps and supporting preparations for the Asian U-16 Championship.

“Our U-16 team has made the nation proud. These young players are extremely talented. We’re already planning for the World U-17 Championship, and I hope all stakeholders will play their part in helping us raise Pakistan’s flag through volleyball,” Yaqoob added. Reiterating his gratitude to the Pakistan Army and the government, Yaqoob stressed that further investment in the country’s youth could help Pakistan’s name shine even brighter on the global stage.

Meanwhile, the national junior volleyball team received a grand welcome upon its return home after making history at the Asian U-16 Championship held in Thailand. After clinching the gold medal, the team was warmly received at the airport by Punjab Sports Board Director General Khizar Afzal Chaudhry, PVF Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob, PVF President Suhail Khawar Mir, and a large number of fans.

The national heroes were showered with rose petals and adorned with garlands upon arrival. It is worth noting that Pakistan remained unbeaten throughout the championship, defeating Iran in a thrilling final to secure the title.
