Pakistan has secured the hosting rights for both the World Masters and Asian Masters Weightlifting Championships, marking a significant milestone in its athletic history. According to the Asian Masters Weightlifting Association, Pakistan will host both men's and women's events, displaying its growing prominence in the international weightlifting community.
The World Masters Championship will be staged under the prestigious banner of "Grand Prix", making it a global spectacle set to take place in Islamabad in February next year. The twin mega events are expected to attract over 500 weightlifters from all seven continents. According to experts, this international gathering not only enhances Pakistan’s profile as a sporting destination but also demonstrates the country’s ability to host events of global stature.
Speaking on this major achievement, Arshad Khan, President of the Pakistan Masters Weightlifting Association, expressed immense pride. “Hosting both the World and Asian Masters Championships is a great honor for Pakistan. It is the result of our consistent success in Master's competitions.” He highlighted that Pakistan’s impressive performance at the Asian Masters Championship in Qatar, where Pakistani lifters bagged 10 medals, played a pivotal role in building international trust in the country's capabilities.
“The world recognized the success of Operation Binyan al-Marsous and now sees Pakistan as a stable and secure venue for international events, thanks to the impregnable defense of the Pakistan Armed Forces.”
