Pandya Likely To Miss Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma Comeback Series In AustraliaBreaking

September 30, 2025

India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is almost certain to miss the three-match ODI series in Australia, starting October 19, according to a report by Dainik Jagran. Pandya injured his left quadriceps (front thigh muscle) during the Asia Cup 2025 and was unavailable for the final against Pakistan. The 31-year-old has been advised four weeks of rest, making his participation in the ODI series highly unlikely.

India are also scheduled to play five T20Is against Australia from October 29 to November 8, and there is a possibility he could return for part of that series. However, with the T20 World Cup scheduled for February next year, the Indian team management might choose not to risk him at all, which could rule him out of the entire tour. Pandya picked up the injury during the Super 4s clash against Sri Lanka.

The fast-bowling all-rounder delivered just one over in the second innings before walking off the field. As a result, he missed the final against Pakistan on September 28, which India won by five wickets. Although India didn’t rely heavily on Pandya during the Asia Cup, he still made small but valuable contributions throughout the tournament.

He bowled 14 overs, took four wickets at an economy rate of 8.57, and played a handy knock of 38 against Bangladesh. The ODI series in Australia could also mark the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Both have retired from the other two international formats and last represented India in the Champions Trophy in February-March.
