September 24, 2024

Former Federal Minister Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind has announced the allocation of a square of agricultural land to Shahzeb Rind, Pakistan's first Karate Combat World Champion. The announcement was made during a press conference held in honor of Shahzeb, who has made significant strides in martial arts despite facing challenges, including financial difficulties in securing travel for competitions. At the event, Ex- Minister Rind criticized the federal and provincial Ministry of Sports for their inadequate support of Shahzeb, highlighting what he termed "double standards" in recognizing local talent. He expressed his disappointment over the lackluster reception Shahzeb received upon returning to Pakistan after his championship win, stating that the young athlete had elevated Pakistan's status on the global stage.

Ex Minister Rind emphasized Shahzeb's dedication and the pride he brings to the nation, noting, “The youth of Balochistan are immensely talented but often go unrecognized. I am committed to advocating for their rights.” He recounted how he had supported Shahzeb financially and emotionally, encouraging him to pursue his passion for karate despite his middle-class background. The former minister referred to Shahzeb as a son and praised his hard work, which he believes should be acknowledged and celebrated by the government and society. In a gesture of support, Rand pledged to officially register the land in Shahzeb's name upon his return to their village in Balochistan, further underscoring his commitment to fostering local talent and ensuring that athletes from the region receive the recognition they deserve. The event served as both a celebration of Shahzeb’s achievements and a call to action for improved support for athletes in Pakistan, particularly those from underrepresented regions.
