Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has been appointed as the Brand Ambassador of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Champions League (KCL), adding star power to the province's flagship cricket initiative aimed at discovering and developing young talent.Afridi will attend the league's grand launch ceremony as the chief cricket attraction on July 18 at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, Peshawar, where the official league schedule, tournament details, talent hunt programme and several key initiatives will be unveiled.
The launch is expected to attract a distinguished gathering, including the Chief Minister and Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, senior government officials, members of the business and corporate community, investors, former and current international cricketers, and other prominent personalities. In a special message, Afridi invited the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly the citizens of Peshawar and cricket enthusiasts from across the province, to attend the historic event with their families, support emerging cricketers and become part of a new era for cricket in the region.
Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan, who is serving as the League Commissioner, will also attend the ceremony alongside several renowned former and current international cricketers. Younis is regarded as one of the driving forces behind the league's vision of strengthening cricket at the grassroots level.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Champions League aims to establish a structured and professional platform for talented youngsters, promote grassroots cricket across the province and showcase Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's peaceful, positive and talented image at both the national and international levels. The league is expected to play a significant role in identifying future cricket stars while strengthening the province's sporting landscape.
