China will assist Pakistan in establishing agricultural modernization demonstration zones and strengthening seed technology capacity under the new China-Pakistan Action Plan (2025–2029). The plan also includes training young Pakistani professionals in advanced farming techniques.

According to the document available with Wealth Pakistan, the two countries will enhance cooperation in crop cultivation, animal husbandry, aquaculture, agro-processing, agricultural mechanization, epidemic prevention and control, and capacity building in seed technology and drip irrigation. Chinese and Pakistani agricultural experts will also be encouraged to exchange knowledge and collaborate on research projects.

The plan highlights support for agricultural reclamation cooperation between China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Pakistan, including the establishment of experimental fields and demonstration projects for modern farming practices. This initiative is expected to improve yields, introduce efficient irrigation systems, and provide models for large-scale agricultural development.

To boost human resource development in the sector, the plan commits to continuing the landmark project of training 1,000 young Pakistani agricultural professionals in China. The training will expose Pakistani youth to advanced technologies, scientific management practices and innovations in agribusiness, enabling them to contribute directly to Pakistan’s food security and rural development.

The two governments also agreed to build on the consensus reached at the 4th CPEC Joint Working Group on Agriculture Cooperation and make full use of the newly established Agricultural Technology Working Group. Cooperation will be strengthened under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council.

Officials said the initiatives will not only modernize Pakistan’s agricultural sector but also enhance its resilience to climate change and global food security challenges, while reinforcing long-term cooperation between Islamabad and Beijing.
