The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has asserted that the communal agenda of the BJP-led Indian government under Narendra Modi’s leadership has effectively held South Asian peace hostage, making life intolerable for the people Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The APHC reiterated that a just and lasting resolution of the Kashmir dispute is vital for ensuring regional peace as well as political and economic stability.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement in Srinagar said that the Kashmir dispute is inherently political in nature and cannot be resolved through military suppression. He emphasized that only a meaningful and result-oriented dialogue process can resolve the dispute and pave the way for peace.
He welcomed the mediation offers extended by the US President and the UN Secretary-General and urged both India and Pakistan to seize this opportunity and resolve the longstanding issue in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The APHC spokesperson called on India to immediately end its campaign of repression in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, release all political detainees, including the Hurriyat leadership, and engage in dialogue with Pakistan and genuine Kashmiri representatives. He also demanded complete withdrawal of Indian troops from the territory to facilitate the resolution process.
