Land subsidence renders dozens homeless in Jammu villageتازترین

September 16, 2025

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, dozens of families have been rendered homeless after massive land subsidence hit Kheri, one of the oldest villages on the outskirts of Jammu, with residents blaming the ongoing Ring Road project for the disaster.  According to Kashmir Media Service, cracks began appearing in homes soon after heavy rains on August 26, widening over the next days and swallowing houses and farmland.

At least 19 residential structures and several animal shelters have become uninhabitable, while power and water supply has collapsed, cutting off normal life in the hilly village, some 15 kilometers from Jammu city.  “Our house has become unliveable and our land too is gone. The ground has burst open with cracks more than a foot wide. At some places, the land has sunk 15–20 feet. We don’t know what to do,” said Mohammad Asif, a young resident preparing for competitive exams, whose family lost their home and farmland to the calamity.
