July 15, 2025

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin has strongly condemned the recent developments in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK), terming them a grim reminder of the worsening state of democratic rights in the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Stalin expressed these remarks over police restrictions placed on IOJK Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to prevent him from visiting the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqshband Sahid in Srinagar to pay respects to martyrs of July 13, 1931.

Condemning the action in a post on X, MK Stalin said, “At a time when there is a growing demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, the current events unfolding there are a grim reminder of how far things have deteriorated”.

Criticizing the reported treatment of Omar Abdullah, he wrote, “The elected Chief MInister is placed under house arrest simply for wanting to pay homage to the 1931 martyrs and is forced to climb walls to do so. Is this how an elected representative should be treated?”
