In India, pro-Pakistan slogans were allegedly raised during Eid Milad celebrations in Shivamogga district of Karnataka, exposing the deep resentment of Muslims against the Hindutva regime. The incident reportedly occurred in Bhadravati Old Town, a communally sensitive area that has witnessed repeated clashes in the past. A video that went viral on social media showed a group of Muslim youth chanting “Pakistan Zindabad” during the celebrations.
Following the development, the Karnataka police admitted that they had taken serious note of the matter and registered a case. Shivamogga Superintendent of Police Mithun Kumar told reporters that three separate police teams had been formed to verify the video’s authenticity and identify the participants. He said drone footage, CCTV images and recordings made by the police video team were being examined.
Local Muslim groups had organised the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) procession in which the slogans were raised, media reports said. The incident reflects the growing discontent among minorities in India against the BJP-RSS regime and its policies of marginalisation. However, observers pointed out that in several past cases, Hindutva gangs themselves were found involved in orchestrating such incidents with the sole aim of maligning Muslims and portraying them as anti-India, in order to further the communal agenda of the BJP-RSS regime.
