Renowned Indian journalist Ravish Kumar has launched a sharp criticism of Modi diplomacy and the propaganda machinery of mainstream Indian media commonly dubbed ‘Godi media’. Ravish Kumar in a video on his YouTube channel accused both the Indian government and media of failing to take moral stances and betraying public trust over Iran-Israel conflict. Kumar specifically targeted India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, accusing him of prioritizing appearance over leadership.
“Jaishankar wears expensive suits and speaks perfect English,” Kumar said, “but when the Iran–Israel crisis arose, he remained silent.” Kumar argues this silence reveals that Modi diplomacy is more about showmanship than substance. While global players speak out on Iran-Israel conflict, India has stayed silent on Israel’s military actions. Kumar warns this silence damages India’s global image and implies a lack of ethical consistency in its foreign policy.
He sees this as a direct outcome of Modi diplomacy’s opportunistic tilt toward Western agendas. Kumar blasts Indian mainstream outlets for their biased portrayal of both domestic and international events. “Godi media treats Iran the same way it treats India’s 200?million Muslims through a hateful lens,” he remarked. He decried the media’s framing of the Iran–Israel conflict as purely religious, much like past coverage of internal Muslim–Hindu tensions.
This, he argues, inflames public opinion and deepens communal divides. Referring to Operation Sindoor, Kumar recalled how media coverage favored the government while demonizing certain communities. He warns that the same biased coverage appears now in the Iran–Israel crisis—another echo of sectarian storytelling designed to distract rather than inform.
