Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Director General Moin-ur-Rehman Khan and Provincial Lawmaker Gwadar, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, have jointly inaugurated several development projects today under the GDA Old Town Rehabilitation Plan in Gwadar.

These projects include Shaheen Chowk, B&R Chowk, Hospital Road, Thana Ward, and B&R Link Road, according to Gwadar Pro on Sunday.

On this occasion, inauguration plaques were also unveiled at Shaheen Chowk and B&R Chowk.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Engineer GDA Haji Syed Muhammad, Superintending Engineer Roads Nadir Baloch, Project Director Water Meer Jan Baloch, Deputy PD Old Town Rehabilitation Project Muhammad Asif, former Chairman Municipal Committee Sharif Mian Dad, consellors, and a large number of GDA officials.

Speaking at the event, MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman stated that in the past, these areas would resemble ponds and face flood-like conditions after rainfall.

However, due to GDA’s development projects, these areas now appear clean and in much better condition just a few days after rain.

He added that under the Old Town Rehabilitation Plan, the drainage system in most parts of the city has improved, and its positive impact was clearly visible during the recent rains.

He further mentioned that development work will soon begin in the remaining areas, including TTC Colony, Bakhshi Colony, Shambay Ismail Ward, and other parts of the old town, to ensure uniform improvement across the city.

On the occasion, DG GDA Moin-ur-Rehman Khan said that GDA is developing Gwadar on a large scale in accordance with the master plan, aligning it with modern requirements.

At the same time, work is ongoing on upgrading old residential areas, construction and expansion of roads and streets, and rehabilitation of drainage and sewerage systems.
