Pakistan, Switzerland reaffirm commitment to strengthen cooperation in education and development تازترین

State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Wajiha Qamar, met with, Foreign Minister of Switzerland, Ignazio Cassis on the sidelines of the 43rd Session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. During the meeting, both sides discussed avenues to enhance bilateral cooperation in education, vocational training, research, and sustainable development, said a press release issued here.

They emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange, innovation, and institutional linkages to equip youth with future-ready skills. Wajiha Qamar highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing education reforms focused on inclusive learning, digital literacy, and skill development, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving access and quality across all levels of education.  

She appreciated Switzerland’s support for global education and development programs and expressed Pakistan’s interest in expanding collaboration in the technical and higher education sectors.Ignazio Cassis acknowledged Pakistan’s active role at UNESCO and praised its efforts in promoting equitable education and capacity-building initiatives.

He reaffirmed Switzerland’s willingness to strengthen bilateral engagement in areas of mutual interest, including sustainable education and innovation-led growth.The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their resolve to deepen cooperation under UNESCO’s framework and to continue working together toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG-4 on quality education.
