The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) imposed fines amounting Rs.54,000 on five food outlets and issued improvement notices to 18 others during a district-wide food safety drive,officials said on Saturday. The inspections were carried out on the directives of Deputy Director PFA Sadia Rafat. During the campaign,PFA teams inspected 43 food businesses across the district to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. According to the authority,11 kilograms of expired sweets and other prohibited food items were confiscated and discarded during the operation.A food sample was also collected for laboratory testing. The PFA said inspections would continue across the district to ensure the availability of safe and hygienic food for consumers and to enforce food safety regulations.
