A suspected criminal was arrested after sustaining injuries in an alleged police encounter near Hasan Chowk, behind Beconhouse school within the limits of Gulgasht police station,here on Saturday. According to police,officials signaled three motorcyclists to stop during a late-night patrol. However,one of the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police, prompting retaliatory firing. As a result, one of the suspects, identified as Muhammad Dilawar,r/o Muhammadpur Ghotta in Qasim Bela,sustained bullet injuries and was taken into custody. He was shifted to hospital for treatment. The two other suspects managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Police claimed the arrested suspect was wanted in several cases of robbery,theft and other street crimes. Separate teams have been constituted to arrest the absconding suspects while further investigation was underway.
