Around 70 percent of the public welfare projects under the Old Town Rehabilitation Project in Gwadar have been completed as of June 3, a GDA official said, according to Gwadar Pro on Thursday.
The remaining development projects, along with more than 20 mega projects under the Gwadar Master Plan 2026, are progressing expeditiously, he added.
Under the project, work is underway on the construction and rehabilitation of roads, restoration of streets and lanes, improvement of the drainage system, installation and repair of sewerage lines, enhancement of the drinking water supply network, installation of streetlights, and the provision of other essential civic amenities, he said.
On the special directives of Director General GDA Moin-ur-Rehman Khan, the primary objective of these initiatives is to provide modern urban facilities to the residents of Old Town in Gwadar, he added.
Work is also underway on the establishment of Beach Model Parks at Gadani, Kund Malir, Ormara, Pasni, and Gwadar, the official said.
“The Old Town Rehabilitation Project team is continuously monitoring progress across different components of the project to ensure that all works are completed according to the prescribed standards and within the stipulated timeframe,” he added.
Other mega projects include the Central Business District, Special Economic Zones, the GDA Housing Scheme, ecological corridors, and the implementation of micro-planning under the master plan. Additional projects include commercial centers, public spaces, museums, heritage centers, coastal tourism resorts, foreign tourist resorts, Grab Beach Park, and the GDA Club.
Special emphasis is being placed on modernizing urban infrastructure, environmental protection, socio-economic growth, and the provision of public amenities.
During the implementation of the project, GDA is prioritizing public needs and the convenience of the local population.
In this regard, relevant departments are actively addressing issues in various areas, while development activities are being effectively supervised and monitored.
The Director General of GDA has instructed the concerned officials to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of all project components so that the residents of Old Town can benefit from improved and modern civic facilities.
He reaffirmed GDA’s commitment to the sustainable development of Gwadar and to enhancing the quality of life of its citizens.
