Chinese University brings together Pakistani Community in ChinaBreaking

Sichuan University held a series of events to mark the 75th anniversary of China-Pakistani diplomatic relations, featuring an academic symposium and a friendly badminton tournament that brought together scholars, diplomats and students from the two countries.

The Academic Symposium on “China-Pakistan Community of Shared Future: Prospect and Retrospect” took place at the university, according to a report carried by Gwadar Pro.

The symposium gathered over 40 experts and scholars from more than 30 Pakistani research institutions across China.

The opening ceremony was addressed by Professor Xiong Lin, Vice President of Sichuan University, and Tanvir Bhatti, Consul General of Pakistan in Chengdu. Luo Zhaohui, former Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, former Vice Minister of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and former Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Canada and India, delivered keynote speeches.

Scholars gave recommendations for deepening Pakistan studies, consolidating bilateral ties and expanding people-to-people exchanges under the evolving international landscape.

They also emphasized that educators and researchers should support bilateral cooperation through rigorous research, build consensus through insightful analysis and sustain the ironclad friendship through academic exchanges.

On June 8, the Consulate General of Pakistan in Chengdu and the Pakistan Study Center of Sichuan University co-hosted a friendly badminton tournament at the university.

Leveraging sports, the event deepened bilateral friendship and people-to-people exchanges.

Tanvir Bhatti along with Chinese and Pakistani teachers and students competed in a friendly atmosphere and awards were presented to the participants afterwards.

He noted that more cultural events would be arranged going forward to further consolidate China-Pak friendly relations.
