Pak-China Joint Research Centre launched in Shenyang to boost Scientific CooperationBreaking

June 10, 2026

Pakistan-China Joint Research Centre was officially inaugurated at Shenyang University of Chemical Technology (SYUCT) in Liaoning Province, marking a new step in bilateral cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and higher education as the two countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Pakistan's Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, alongside Xu Guangwen, Member of the Standing Committee of the Liaoning Provincial People's Congress, and Qin Gaowu, President of SYUCT, according to a Gwadar Pro's report on Wednesday.

The newly established centre is the result of a collaborative initiative launched by Liaoning provincial authorities and Ambassador Hashmi in 2025.

Following the signing of a cooperation document between the Embassy of Pakistan and SYUCT in June last year, the university entered into partnership agreements with three leading Pakistani institutions the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), NED University of Engineering and Technology, and the University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar to promote joint academic, scientific, and technological research.

Addressing the ceremony, President Qin Gaowu highlighted the long-standing friendship between China and Pakistan, describing the centre as the first China-Pakistan joint research platform established by a local Chinese university.

He expressed confidence that the initiative would advance scientific innovation, talent cultivation, and people-to-people exchanges while contributing to sustainable development in both countries.

Ambassador Khalil Hashmi praised SYUCT for its achievements in research and innovation, particularly in the field of green technologies and its recent success in China's Dual Carbon Competition 2025.

He noted that the research centre would serve as a vital platform connecting academia, technology, and industry, facilitating knowledge exchange, skills development, and collaborative research projects between the two nations.

Representatives and academic leaders from the partner universities in Pakistan also attended the inauguration ceremony, which was joined by faculty members, researchers, and international students, including students from Pakistan.
