The Pakistan-China Friendship Association (PCFA) Lahore was formally established at the first meeting of its founding members, held at the University of Central Punjab, Lahore.

The association’s core objectives include creating meaningful opportunities for exchanges in education, culture, business and social activities, organizing seminars, conferences, exhibitions, cultural festivals and language programs, and facilitating collaboration among educational institutions, think tanks, businesses and civil society organizations.

A key initiative is the establishment of an Alumni Chapter for Pakistanis who have studied at Chinese educational institutions, providing former students with a platform to remain connected and contribute to further strengthening Pakistan-China relations, Gwadar Pro reported.

Founding members represent a broad cross-section of Pakistani society, including university deans, government officials, hospital directors, poets, business representatives and educators.

Chinese nationals among the founding members include representatives of Chinese enterprises operating in Pakistan, delegates from Chinese language schools in the country, and the head of the Lahore Overseas Chinese Association.

Professor Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Languages and Literature at the University of Central Punjab (UCP) Lahore, was elected as the association’s first president.

Dr. Butt has previously played a key role in promoting Pak-China educational collaboration and received the “Friendship Award 2023” from the Chinese Consulate General in Lahore.
