The Federal Government to ensure smooth Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations for citizens, has directed all electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) to minimize load shedding during the holiday period. According to the spokesperson of WAPDA, this directive encompasses Fesco, Lesco, Mepco, Hesco, Gepco, and Iesco, covering a vast majority of electricity consumers across Pakistan. According to a spokesperson for the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), the Chief Executives of these DISCOs have been instructed to prioritize minimal power outages on both Eid-ul-Fitr and the preceding Chand Raat (eve of Eid).

The focus on Chand Raat specifically acknowledges the importance of this night for families who traditionally engage in last-minute Eid shopping. By minimizing disruptions, the government aims to ensure a more enjoyable and hassle-free shopping experience, particularly for women, he added. He said that this initiative reflects the government's understanding of the significance of Eid for Pakistani families and its commitment to facilitating a festive and stress-free celebration.
