The Inter-Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) finalized software for online e-marking in all the educational boards of the country, including Punjab.In a statement, the IBCC said that under the pilot project, e-marking will be conducted for the computer subject paper.The Inter-Boards Coordination Commission directed all the educational boards of the country to implement the e-marking system in letter and spirit.
IBCC provided the software to all the educational boards of the country free of cost.After the successful completion of the pilot project, all the marks on the papers will be marked by e-marking.Earlier, on February 20, 2026, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore unveiled significant changes to its examination procedures. The reforms aim to improve transparency, accountability, and fairness in the assessment system.
The decision comes after numerous complaints about the mismanagement of practical examinations. Concerns were raised over irregular marking practices and a lack of oversight during lab assessments. To address the issue, the board has introduced centralized marking for 9th-class practical exams. Practical assessments will now be a mandatory component of student evaluation.
Authorities believe this step will ensure uniform standards across all examination centers.CCTV cameras will be installed in laboratories. The move is intended to monitor practical exams and prevent unfair practices. Officials say surveillance will promote discipline and transparency during assessments.
