Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif telephoned Maulana Fazlur Rehman to ‘discuss’ the political situation of the country, including PTI’s long march.During the conversation, Maulana Fazlur Rehman reportedly emphasised that dialogue and mutual understanding should resolve the issues.He also called for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the opposition to demonstrate seriousness in finding a political solution, the sources said.Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the federal government was making every possible effort to resolve matters through political means.
He stressed the need for political stability, adding that the government had made strenuous efforts to strengthen the national economy.Government sources said the PTI’s insistence on proceeding with its long march had created complications. They also maintained that the opposition should refrain from advancing towards the federal government. The discussions focused on resolving political differences through dialogue and maintaining stability in the country.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired an important meeting at the Prime Minister’s House, where the country’s security and political situation was reviewed.Federal ministers and senior officials attended the meeting, according to sources. Sources said Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah briefed the meeting on the ongoing dialogue process with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).The meeting also discussed all constitutional and legal matters concerning Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The government also decided to give time to JUI-F chief Fazal ur Rehman’s efforts to mediate in the ongoing talks, sources said.
