Wheat cultivation has reached 102,632 acres in district, achieving 23 per cent of the seasonal target of 550,000 acres under a special drive initiated on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. According to Deputy Director Agriculture Gohar Rehman on Saturday, the area brought under wheat sowing so far is eight per cent higher compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

He stated that field teams of the Agriculture Department were actively assisting farmers under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry to enhance crop yield and ensure national food security, aiming to complete sowing over 300,000 acres by November 20.

He added that measures were also underway to ensure wheat cultivation across all government-owned land per provincial directives. Gohar Rehman highlighted that the supply of certified seeds and irrigation water remained satisfactory, urging farmers to capitalize on favourable weather conditions to complete sowing within the optimal period.
