March 04, 2026

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a 35 paise per unit increase in electricity prices, effective for three months from March to May.The hike affects all consumers of K-Electric and the country’s distribution companies (DISCOs).According to the official notification, the price adjustment is part of the second-quarter revision of the current financial year. NEPRA stated that the increase will ensure continued electricity supply and cover rising operational costs faced by power producers.

The additional cost will translate into a total burden of approximately Rs 8.67 billion on electricity consumers over the three-month period. All categories of consumers, including residential, commercial, and industrial users, will be affected by the hike. Officials explained that the adjustment is aimed at balancing the cost of electricity production with current fuel and operational expenditures. This is a routine quarterly mechanism to ensure that power companies remain financially sustainable while continuing to supply electricity to consumers.
