PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said that discussions are underway between the government and the opposition on the evolving security situation in the region, stressing that all political forces must act responsibly in the national interest.Speaking to journalists during a meeting between a government delegation and the opposition leader, Barrister Gohar said that security issues in the region are on the agenda. He added that Allama Raja Nasir Abbas has also been invited to participate in the consultations.

“The security situation in the world is changing rapidly. We are also a nuclear state, and as the opposition, we have to play our role,” he said. He emphasized that it is the opposition’s responsibility to convey the feelings and concerns of the public to the government.Responding to a question about whether his party would formally consult internally before attending the meeting, Barrister Gohar said the instructions of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are clear.

“The decision inside and outside the house will be made by Mahmood Achakzai,” he said, referring to the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly. When asked whether the PTI founder would be released before Eid, Barrister Gohar replied, “May Allah bring him,” without offering further details. In response to a question about whether he would attend a meeting at the Prime Minister’s House, Barrister Gohar said no final decision had been made yet, as discussions were still ongoing. 

Referring to the Jaffar Express incident, he said the opposition had previously called for a meeting with the PTI founder to deliberate on national security matters. Asked whether the opposition would pursue reconciliation or resistance, Barrister Gohar said, “In politics, both are going on, but when national security is at stake, it is necessary to show responsibility.”
