Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged Iran to participate in the next phase of negotiations aimed at easing tensions with the United States, during a meeting with Tehran’s envoy in Islamabad.According to the report, the prime minister held talks with Reza Amiri Moghadam, where both sides discussed the ongoing US-Iran dispute, the wider regional situation and prospects for dialogue.
Sources said the meeting focused on the importance of diplomatic engagement to resolve the crisis.During the discussion, Mr Sharif emphasised the need for Iran’s active involvement in the second round of negotiations, stressing that dialogue remains the most effective path towards stability in the region. Sources indicated that the Iranian ambassador praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in facilitating talks and supporting peaceful resolution of the conflict.
He also acknowledged Islamabad’s role in offering to host negotiations between the two sides. The prime minister conveyed his good wishes to Mojtaba Khamenei, reflecting Pakistan’s intent to maintain constructive relations with Iran’s leadership. Both sides also exchanged views on bilateral ties, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation while continuing efforts to promote peace through dialogue.
