Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered restructuring of Directorate General of Public Relations (DGPR). Chairing a special meeting in Lahore on Thursday, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also approved a new building to house DGPR headquarters. Maryam Nawaz directed to take immediate steps to pay dues to the media outlets. She stressed to strengthen third-party validation to assess DGPR’s performance. In the meeting, Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Azma Zahid Bukhari gave a detailed briefing.
Addressing the meeting, Maryam Nawaz said to ensure timely access to information to the public, it is necessary to meet the requirements of the present era. Communication has become more than an art and it is important to understand, Maryam Nawaz said. Maryam Nawas said she wants to align DGPR with the requirements of the present era. We are going through an era of information abundance, Maryam Nawaz added. She said the public should be informed by the government to test the truth and falsehood.
