Rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have once again escalated into serious cross-border military confrontation, marking one of the most intense episodes between the two neighbors in recent years. According to Pakistani security sources, the latest clashes involved airstrikes and ground operations targeting militant positions inside Afghan territory, particularly in border provinces. Islamabad states that the action was taken in response to what it describes as unprovoked aggression and cross-border attacks on Pakistani security posts. Afghan authorities, however, have condemned the strikes as violations of sovereignty, further deepening diplomatic strain between the two countries.
Officials reported that the ongoing “Ghazab lil-Haq” operation has inflicted significant losses on Taliban fighters. According to security sources, 133 militants have been killed so far, while more than 200 others have sustained injuries. During the clashes, Pakistani forces reportedly destroyed 27 Taliban posts and took control of nine additional positions.
Military officials stated that over 36 tanks, artillery pieces, and armored vehicles were also destroyed in the course of the operation. Precision strikes were conducted across several border sectors. In the Chitral sector, a key Taliban post was demolished, and multiple militant bases were targeted, forcing fighters to withdraw from certain areas.
Additional confrontations were reported in the Naogai sector of Bajaur, the Tira sector of Khyber, the Memonand district, and the Arandu sector. In Bajaur, two Taliban outposts were completely destroyed. Authorities described the response as rapid and effective in countering the threats.
The Ministry of Information stated that actions by the Afghan Taliban along the border prompted the launch of the operation, adding that militants had underestimated Pakistan’s level of preparedness. According to the ministry, “Ghazab lil-Haq” was intended to send a clear message regarding the defense of national sovereignty.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to peace but warned that any form of aggression would be met with a firm and decisive response. He reiterated that the country would not allow its stability to be compromised.
Security officials added that forces are on high alert, with border surveillance further strengthened. Authorities have reaffirmed that any future violations will be met with an immediate response. Although the situation remains tense, officials maintain that Pakistan’s territorial integrity will be safeguarded at all costs and that national security remains the country’s top priority.
