Ramadan Relief Packages 2026: Government Initiatives to Support Families in PakistanBreaking

February 19, 2026

Today marks the first day of Ramadan in Pakistan. This holy month is filled with countless blessings and mercy. People make sure that everyone gets to eat properly at Sehri and Iftar. However, in a developing country like Pakistan, Ramadan often brings an increase in inflation as well, which creates even more difficulties for poor families who start worrying about how they will manage their expenses throughout the month. Prices of fruits, chicken, lentils, and other essential items are usually raised, making life harder for those who are already struggling.

This year, however, there is good news from the government, as they have promised that no household will sleep hungry and no one will have to worry about rising prices during Ramadan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a Ramadan relief package worth 38 billion rupees for 12.1 million deserving families across Pakistan. This package aims to provide support to the needy and ensure that families can manage their Ramadan expenses without financial stress.

In addition, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also announced a major relief initiative. Under her Ramadan package, 40 billion rupees have been allocated for 4.2 million families in Punjab. The Maryam Nawaz Sharif package is designed to provide direct financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 to low-income families during Ramadan. The eligibility criteria include households with a monthly income below Rs. 60,000, with priority given to vulnerable groups such as widows, disabled individuals, and daily wage workers.

For registration, families can apply online through the PSER portal (pser.punjab.gov.pk), send an SMS to 8070, or register offline through Union Councils. Applicants are required to provide a valid CNIC, proof of income, utility bills, and disability certificates if applicable. This package is intended to help families cover essential expenses like groceries and utility bills, ensuring dignity and financial stability during the blessed month of Ramadan.
