On the directives of the Director General of the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), Moin ur Rehman Khan, the GDA Horticulture Department has launched a new tree plantation initiative to transform the Chur Water Station into a green and environmentally friendly facility.
According to Horticulturist Hamal Dashti, the plantation campaign will include mango, sapodilla (chikoo), jujube (beri), date palm, jand, acacia (kikar), and other indigenous tree species well suited to the local climate.
According to a Gwadar Pro's report on Friday, the initiative aims not only to beautify and green the water station but also to strengthen environmental protection, expand the area's green cover, reduce temperatures, and promote a sustainable and eco-friendly environment
As part of the initiative, Environmental Officer/Horticulturist Hamal Dashti and Engineer Sanaullah conducted a detailed visit to the Chur Water Statio.
During the visit, they assessed the soil quality, land composition, topography, site boundaries, and other technical aspects to ensure the selection and plantation of suitable tree species.
The Chur Water Station, located at Nalent along the Makran Coastal Highway, serves as a key water storage and pumping facility for Gwadar City.
It stores water supplied from the Shadi Kaur Dam and Sod Dam before pumping it to the city.
A comprehensive plantation plan has been prepared to develop the vast area within the station's boundary walls into a lush green landscape by planting large shade and fruit-bearing trees.
