China’s foreign trade continued to demonstrate resilience in 2025 as imports and exports with more than 190 countries and regions recorded growth, while exports of high-tech products increased by 13.2%, according to the report on the implementation of the 2025 plan for national economic and social development reviewed at the national legislative session in Beijing.
The report states that China’s gross domestic product reached 140.19 trillion yuan in 2025, representing a 5.0% increase compared with 2024. Despite a complex global economic environment and external shocks, the country’s trade performance remained stable and continued to support economic growth.
According to the report, China worked to strengthen the competitiveness of its industries while sustaining stable foreign trade development. Quality improvements in industrial production helped expand exports and improve the structure of trade.
The report notes that imports and exports with over 190 countries and regions registered growth during the year. This broad expansion of trade relations reflects efforts to diversify export markets and strengthen economic ties with a wide range of international partners.
High-tech products played an increasingly important role in China’s export performance. Exports of such products rose by 13.2% in 2025, indicating stronger global demand for advanced manufacturing goods and technology-intensive products.
Authorities continued implementing policies aimed at supporting the development of high-value manufacturing industries and strengthening technological capabilities. These measures have contributed to the growth of high-tech exports and the upgrading of China’s export structure.
