A massive fire erupted at a garment factory in the Landhi area of Karachi on Thursday while the efforts are underway to douse the blaze.  The rescue officials declared it a ‘third-degree’ fire and called fire tenders from across the city.  The blaze broke out at the factory located in the Landhi Export Processing Zone.  Fire-brigade officials rushed to the scene and began rescue operations. 

As many as 14 fire tenders are working to bring the flames under control.  Officials from Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) said that more fire tenders have been called in from all over Karachi to speed up firefighting efforts in view of the fire’s intensity.  The rescue authorities further confirmed that all workers inside the factory were safely evacuated from the building.
