December 05, 2025

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight heading to Sukkur from Karachi with several ministers of Sindh government on board escaped a disaster after the plane developed a technical fault. The ATR plane took off from Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport and was on its way to Sukkur when it suddenly developed the fault, 17 minutes into the flight. Captain of flight PK-536 swiftly alerted the air traffic controller (ATC) at the Karachi Airport and sought permission for returning to the airport.

The captain skillfully brought the plane back to the Karachi Airport and succeeded in landing the plane safely. A number of ministers of the Sindh government, including Local Bodies Minister Nasir Shah, were on board the plane when it developed the fault. Sukkur Mayor Arsalan Sheikh was also on the same flight. The PIA cancelled the flight after informing the passengers about the technical hiccup.
